Stream Protection through Education

Weatherford, OK

Saturday and Sunday, October 15 & 16, 2022

Southwestern OK State University SCI 117

100 W. Campus Drive

Weatherford, OK 73096

Blue Thumb volunteers are the ultimate citizen scientists!  They monitor local streams, submit data, and educate the public about protecting streams and rivers.

Give Oklahoma’s water a hand!  Volunteer!

Help get the word out!  Blue Thumb training is coming to Weatherford!  All kinds of people volunteer for this award-winning citizen scientist program. A few things about Blue Thumb:

  • Over 90 streams are actively monitored across the state.

  • Ages are middle school through retirement

  • Teachers can attend and then request a “mini-academy” that prepares students for monitoring

  • Participants receive the “Project WET 2.0 Guide” that is filled with water activities for all ages, plus certification as a WET (water education today) facilitator

  • Both days are required to be a monitoring volunteer. Those who to be an education only volunteer can choose to attend only Saturday
